| This branch of biology studies the anatomy of animals and compare the bodies of various species. Many organs have very similar structural pattern, so, they must have a common origin. They are called homologous organs which have a similar structure, but perform different functions. An example of homologous organs are the limbs of mammals. However the analogs are upside down, having the same function but a different structure.

| Finally we have the vestigial organs, which by series of adaptation pf the species, lose their function, but are maintained generation after generation. One example is the residual limb bones in snakes, or the pelvic bones in whales. These bodies of four-legged vertebrates, implying that these animals had to evolve from quadrupeds ancestors. Or as in the photo, that peak in the ear of the monkey, as we have it for inside of the ear by the lack of function, but remains for generations.
